After two months of regular correspondence going back and forth, deliverance finally. Miraculously I managed today to arrange for a meeting with Andrew Stacher, BBC team leader for the “Click Online” subtitling project (which has just launched a pilot last November http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/click_online/4421335.stm). Being an expert in web accessibility issues at the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/accessibility/, Andrew was very informative and helped alot in providing me better understand this issue, which I will incorporate it into my case study essay for Professional Studies.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Hong for accompanying me for the interview at the BBC. I really appreciate it Hongy, and I hope you found this trip as enjoyable and informative to you too, as it definitely was for me.

Also today’s visit has inspired Hong and I for some new ideas for the DAP project….Xavier get ready 🙂

And ofcourse I thought about you all, my dear classmates….so at the end of the meeting, I asked Andrew if we can arrange for a field trip for my classmates to visit the premises of BBC’s new media, he welcomed the idea and will get back to me in a couple of weeks…so my dear classmates, I hope it comes true.. I will keep you posted 🙂

Unreal………I was infront of the BBC today, you cannot imagine how it felt setting foot into the BBC, it was my wildest dream come true. The BBC is actually one of the reasons I I majored in media. Growing up, the BBC was always part of my life. I remember how my father tuned in every single night to the Arabic BBC service (actually till this day), hearing “Big Ben……This is London……” The BBC was the only reputable media that was trusted, ironically even when we wanted to know our local news that was our only means of information. Can somebody pinch me to wake me up …was I really infront of the giant itself? The BBC, WOW, how your dreams can come true… Hopefully, this is not the end of it…and just a beginning for a more lasting visit 😉

I am still waiting for Nomensa to respond to my questions…but so far everything is going so slow for this case study 😦 I am not optimistic at all. Actually would appreciate if someone would help me find contact persons in the above mentioned companies.
